About Our Specialists

  Elaine Holden: Fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, has worked as a specialist, consultant, college professor, and supervisor in the area of reading for over thirty years. As the author of numerous articles, contributor to language texts and evaluation tools, as well as a noted speaker at educational conferences for over twenty years, Elaine brings a wealth of professional knowledge to the Foundation.

Dr. Holden has been a reading specialist/consultant in the New England area for over 30 years. Currently she directs the tutorials for The Reading Foundation, is a professor in the Graduate School of Education at Rivier College, Nashua, New Hampshire, evaluates children both privately and for school districts in the area of reading and related language disorders, and sits on the governing boards for the Associate of Specialists in the Assessment of Intellectual Functioning (ASAIF). Elaine is also a member of the New Hampshire board of directors of The International Dyslexia Association, and is the only Orton-Gillingham Academy Fellow in the State of New Hampshire. Elaine lives with her 99 year old mother and 5 spoiled cats of varying temperament, in Peterborough, New Hampshire, where she also keeps her antique cars, 18 foot sailboat, and several thousand books.
